FAQs

Q: How do I prepare for the visit?

A: If you have stand alone air purifiers, please have them shut down at least 24hrs prior to our home visit.  If you have an HRV (heat recovery ventilator) or ERV(energy recovery ventilator) unit as part of your whole home mechanical system, also shut it off as well 24hrs prior to the in-home assessment.

Q: Will you make any damage?

A: Generally, our assessments are completely non-destructive.  Even mould sampling doesn't cause any damage to the building finishes.  Only in cases where we collect cavity wall samples, a very small hole (no bigger than 3/8") is made in an inconspicuous area for the tubing to collect cavity air samples.  Most of the time we can fit tubing into wall cavities without piercing the wall finish.

Q: How long until I get results?

A: Once all the samples have been collected, they are delivered to the lab for analysis. Once we have received the lab results, we prepare a report with the findings & recommendations within 3 business days.

Q: Can I be present for the assessment?

A. Yes, we encourage at least 1 homeowner/resident to be there to answer any questions.

Q: Is the equipment noisy?

A: Our mould pumps are the only equipment that generate any noise.  However the decible level on the unit is very low and unless you are standing right next to the unit you wont hear it running.

Q: How do I pay for the service?

A: Credit card and E-transfer are both accepted. For credit card we add the 3% credit card fee as a surcharge so E-transfer may be preferred.

Q: How long does the appointment take?

A. Please plan to be home for an hour. If it is a larger job then 2 hours.
